The following are descriptions and links of some applications and services which I have found helpful over the last few years.

Most are a demonstration of the 80-20 rule. For 80% of users they are more than sufficient.

I will add to these as I find additional quality ones, so bookmark the page and check back.

	Open Office is a first class replacement for Microsoft Office Suite (or Word Perfect). You can even save to Microsoft formats by default. A very stable product. Link to Open Office site.
	PrimoPDF is a free PDF Writer. It allows you to "print" anything you can normally print to a PDF file. Link to PrimoPDF.
	Irfanview ...one of the most popular viewers worldwide! That's what it says on the website and I don't doubt it. An quality graphics viewer. Link to Irfanview.
	Personal Ancestral File comes with no charge from The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. If I were starting to research my family tree today or was looking to change my genealogy program, this is the program that I would most probably use. While it comes from the Mormon Church, the special fields which they record can be turned off during installation or later. Link to Family Search website.
	KeePass Password Safe is the perfect answer, at least in my opinion, to keeping track of all your different passwords while keeping them safe. NOTE: Don't lose the master password or you are in real trouble! Link to KeePass Password Safe.
	Housecall by Trend Micro is an online virus and spyware/malware checker and fixer. It takes time (depending on how much you have stored on your hard drive, it could be several hours) but I have found that it does an excellent job EVEN AFTER MY REGULAR SCANS. Link to Housecall by Trend Micro.
	Avast by Adwil is my virus scanner of choice AT THIS TIME (Feb 2008). I emphasis "at this time" as I have found that a lot can change quickly in computers and applications and virus scanning programs are no exception. The personal edition is free for download but you must register to receive updates and re-register every 14 months (or so). Link to Avast Personal edition.
